The project was completed in two phases to meet the operation needs of the University. Phase 1 was comprised of remodeling 2,200 SF of existing space into theatrical and musical rehearsal rooms, musical practice suites, office areas, and creating a new mezzanine structure inside of an existing space. Phase II was to construct 5,000 SF of new musical performance space complete with acoustical provisions, automated lighting, sound transmission and recording provisions, as well as start of the art smart classroom provisions including digital projection equipment. There were numerous logistical challenges as well, this facility is used year round and the construction project had to be conducted in a way as not to impact any of the facility’s functions. Careful planning and coordination during the pre-construction phase allowed the construction to be sequenced so there was minimal impact to the University’s operations.
